With over 60% of the state covered in forests, the southern coastal plains of Mississippi offer a different experience than much of the state. Central to southern Mississippi has forests, bogs, estuaries, marshes and swamps as well as access to some of the state’s forests and Mississippi River to the west. The birthplace of “The Blues” and Barq’s Rootbeer, southern Mississippi has a unique culture that eclectic and invigorating. With access to the Gulf of Mexico, you can do things like bike along the coast, go on shrimping trimps, or take in culture at one of Biloxi’s numerous art galleries.
