Job Summary

Sierra/Springall Academy is a non-public school for students with learning differences in grades 1-12+. With a student population of approximately 70 and a staff of 35, class sizes are small, and teamwork is an essential element leading to the success of the school. For the 2020-2021 school year, we are seeking the following position: Behavioral Lead Assistant.

Our Behavioral Assistant is expected to work very closely with all aspects of the school program including classroom teachers/staff, related services personnel, in a proactive manner to carry out the daily functions described by the Directors and teaching staff. The Behavioral Assistant is responsible for maintaining a safe school environment where students are given the opportunity for a quality education and identifying areas of support throughout the campus.


Assist all staff and students proactively to help mitigate foreseen behavioral and academic needs.

Lead small group instructional rotations.

Collect behavioral data.

Plan/lesson plan for academics.

Collaborative/innovative team member.

Leadership role among other assistants.

Ability to create a positive and caring learning environment.

Able to maintain a calm demeanor during student crisis.

Understand the principles of effective classroom management.

Ability to develop strategies for continuous school improvement.

Strong communication skills.

Ability to uphold and enforce school rules and policies.

Lead by example-punctual, respectful in guiding staff and students to take pride in their classroom and school community.

Perform other assigned duties determined by the schools needs and business requirements.


Preferred experience in working with students who have emotional/behavioral challenges.

Evidence in-emotional/behavioral challenged youth, with in-depth experience working with individuals with exceptional needs.
